Welcome to the musical homestead of Vernam and Connie Cipher., who’ve been playing and singing together for more than 10 years at gigs on what Dad dubbed in jest “The Planned Obsolescence Tour.” Connie gets the last laugh now that the self-fulfilling prophecy has come to pass: She’s all grown up and prone to stealing the show.

NEXT:  Since Connie wasn’t even 10, we’ve enjoyed playing at Great American Bagel in Westmont and Western Springs.  Some of Dad’s favorite memories are of little girls who watched in fascination as our girl did her thing.  Now she and they are all grown up, and Great American Bagel has decided to discontinue its songwriters’ showcase, so on April 30, it’s our sad privilege to be the last people who’ll perform there.  We’ll try to make it special.   The Westmont set starts at 10:00 a.m., then we dash to Western Springs by 11:30 a.m.

NEW:  The singin’ Ciphers will perform at our very favorite
summertime venue, the Downers Grove Classic Car Nights on Friday, June 9.  We’ll play from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Hey, we’ve been asked back to Geneva’s pastoral Windy Acres Farm on the Saturdays of October 7 and 14, from noon to 5:00 p.m.  It is a truly kid-friendly spot, with non-stop fun activities.

PREVIOUS:  Connie and Vernam played at Windy Acres last October in the tranquil environs of this beautiful family farm.

Connie and Vernam continued their busy summer 2016 schedule with the Downers Grove Farmers’ Market on the Saturdays of July 9, August 6, and October 1.

We played at the beloved Great American Bagel in Westmont and Western Springs on July 17, August 14, and September 18. Con and Dad have been playing at GAB since 2004, and we’re so grateful to have such special memories there.

Connie and Vernam returned to BuckleDown Brewing (8700 47th St. in Lyons) from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22.

Our annual show at the Downers Grove Classic Car Nights was Friday, July 8, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Main St. Metra station.
